Crime Pays

In the summer, Serie A referee Paparesta was banned for his role in the Calciocaos match-fixing scandal. As previously posted on this site (http://footballisfixed.blogspot.com/2006/11/il-ritorno-di-paparesta.html), his return to officiating in Italy was a little premature.
Now UEFA have rewarded him for his dishonesty by calling him onto the UEFA Referees Roster and he takes control of this week's Leverkusen v Besiktas match.
Dondarini, who was initially banned in the Moggiopoli affair, has also been called up by UEFA for the first time to take charge of Feyenoord v Wisla.
So there we have it. Fix games in your own country and get promoted after a token ban at most. Dietrologia at it's finest.
