Ashes to Ashes

In Affectionate Remembrance
of
ENGLISH FOOTBALL,
which died at the Southwark Crown Court and the Football Association
on
8th FEBRUARY 2012,
Deeply lamented by a large circle of sorrowing
friends and acquaintances

R.I.P.

N.B.—The body will be cremated and the
ashes taken to the Asian Underground.

"Well done, Constalks! Whipt us
Fair and square,
Was it luck that tript us?
Was it scare?
East London Land's 'Demon', or our own
Want of 'devil', coolness, nerve, backbone?"

(adapted from Punch, 9th September 1882)
