After Casey Wasserman's father Jack Meyerowitz was convicted of money laundering alongside reputed mobster Chris Petti, Casey adopted his mother's surname, Wasserman, in an attempt to escape his family ties to serious organised crime.

Wasserman represent 11 managers in the English Football League (including Mikel Arteta, Eddie Howe and Rosenior in the Premier League).while 22 of the 44 clubs in the top two English leagues have full or partial American ownership (some legitimate, some less so).
